Hoddevik Beach Camp
Camping | Small, family-run campsite right by Hoddevik Beach. Accommodation is available for tents, motorhomes and caravans. Open from Easter until mid-October.
Hoddevik is a special place by the sea, known for its beautiful surroundings and dramatic weather. Steep mountain slopes surround the small village and its sandy beach, where waves roll in from the open ocean. The narrow and winding road to Hoddevik is an attraction in itself. After passing the highest point of Hoddevikfjellet, the descent begins and reveals a magnificent view of the village, the beach and the sea. Further down, the road continues in a series of hairpin bends.
Hoddevik Beach Camp is a small campsite for anyone who wants to experience the surrounding nature or simply relax away from the crowds. The area offers opportunities for swimming, surfing, paddling, sunbathing and mountain hiking. It is also the perfect place to unwind in a tent or caravan. Children can enjoy hours of fun on the beach with a bucket and spade, while seabirds share the long stretch of fine sand. The sound of the waves is a constant companion, and the sunsets are often spectacular. Nature here is captivating in every season and under all weather conditions. Sauna Susanna provides a warm retreat with views of the beach and the waves.
Guests range from surfers and swimmers to hikers and those who simply prefer to enjoy the scenery from land. The campsite offers basic facilities, including toilets, showers, drinking water and a dishwashing area. The kiosk sells coffee, ice cream, soft drinks, pizza, toast, snacks and sweets. Groceries can be purchased in Stadlandet, approximately 12 km before reaching Hoddevik. An electric vehicle charging point is available; guests must bring their own charging cable. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash at the campsite, on the beach and elsewhere in the area.
During the summer season, the campsite is often fully booked. There are no other campsites in Hoddevik, and free camping is not permitted in the village. Advance booking is therefore strongly recommended.
Spring and autumn usually offer greater availability and a more relaxed atmosphere. Although the weather can be more variable than in summer, these seasons provide excellent opportunities for memorable nature experiences both on the water and on land.
Hoddevik is an old farming village where people have lived since the Stone Age. The area is known for its distinctive cultural landscape. Goats, sheep and cattle graze on the mountain slopes, while the grass from the flat fields is harvested as winter fodder. Historically, fishing was an important supplement to farming. The row of traditional boathouses by the shore is an important cultural heritage site, together with the pier that shelters boats used for recreational fishing and leisure activities. On calm days, visitors can walk to the end of the pier and enjoy the view, while during storms the waves crash dramatically across it.
