Lovatnet is a lake that stretches 11km long through the valley from Vassenden to Kjenndalstova in Kjenndalen, and you can see 7 glacier-arms from Jostedalsbreen from the lake. You can learn about the rockslides, Lodalsulykkene, that occured in 1905 and 1936 at Kjenndalstova and at the memorial on the way to Kjenndalen. You can find the boat-wreck from the tourism-boat Lodølen, which used to traffic Lovatnet in the 1900's, which was washed on land at Nesodden during the rockslide in 1905.

The valley is filled with activities such as; Boat-trips with MS Kjenndal II from Sande to Kjenndalstova, free fishing rights in Lovatnet, marked hikes, historic wandering at Nesodden, canoe-, rowboat- and bike-rental. There are also several cafès in the valley as well as a short way to Loen Skylift and ViaFerrata Loen.
