The valley Oldedalen
Oldedalen is a south facing valley, and rural community located in the inner part of the Nordfjord region, south of Olden in Stryn municipality. Central to the valley is Lake Oldevatnet, and Oldenelva River which flows through the valley and into the Nordfjord. The valley is an agricultural village.
Oldevatnet is a lake in Olden in Stryn, Sogn og Fjordane. The water has an area of 7.9 square kilometers, is 12 kilometers long and is 33 meters above sea level. Along the lake you find a number of campsites and idyllic places where can stop and enjoi the nature from If you wants to fish there is a possibility that the trout will bit on, you can buy fishing license at Oldevaten camping.
Oldedalen is surrounded by the Jostedalsbreen (glacier) National Park. The famous Briksdalbreen Glacier is located in the side valley Briksdalen. Other glaciers are Brenndalsbreen in the side valley Brenndalen, and Melkevoll glacier that lies at the end of the main valley.
Popular hiking area you can buy a hikingmap at the campsites or at the touristinformation.
In Oldedalen you can also find the Hansa brewery for bottling plant for "Olden" glacier water.
Oldedalen has a good basis for agriculture. At the end of the valley you will find the farms Gytri, Yri, Rustøen, Mykløen, Høgalmen, Myklebust, Melkevoll, Briksdal, Aabrekk, Tungøen, Åberg and Kvamme.
